DAY 1: Arrival in Kigali international Airport –Transfer to the hotel

On arrival, you will be picked up by our driver/guide from Kofi travel safaris, who will transfer you to the hotel reserved.

DAY 2: Visit Gisozi Genocide memorial-Kigali city tour

Explore the historical places around Kigali city, landmarks from colonial, post- independence, genocide and post-genocide times like the Kigali memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims were laid to rest in a mass graves, the museum also features writings, audio presentations in various sections of the gallery availing you with the general picture of what actually transpired during the horrific genocide. Later head to the kimiroko local market camp where 10 Belgian UN soldiers were killed for protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide.

DAY 3: Rwanda- Muhanga community tour experience

After breakfast at the hotel, head to muhanga at the hillside to join locals in working, feasting and participate in the day to day life of these people, imigongo (cow dung art experience, traditional cooking, hive making, later visit the Nayanza royal palace, head back to the hotel.

DAY 4: Visit the Museum in Butare

Head to the national museum after breakfast, where you will be exposed to a number of Rwanda kingdoms, check-out the colonial architecture and later enjoy the captivating traditional dances from the museum, later head back to the hotel relax and have dinner and an overnight.

DAY 5: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, we drive to another famous safari destination in Rwanda, the Nyungwe national park arriving in the afternoon, lunch and then proceed for a canopy walk and enjoy the views of the sceneries from far and the fresh trees during the walk while stretching your legs after the long journey.

DAY 6: Chimpanzee Trek

Head to the park headquarters after breakfast. Have a short briefing from the guides on duty that day before we start our search for the chimpanzees. Nyungwe forest is considered the largest montane forest in the region, rich with 310 bird species, over 75 mammal species, 13 primate species with the popular chimpanzees. Retreat from the activity, head back to the lodge relax or hike the Kamiranzovu waterfall. Dinner and overstay.

DAY 7: Visit Lake Kivu and Tea Plantations

Have breakfast at leisure, drive to the tea plantations and later head to kibuye along Lake Kivu and enjoy breathe taking views of proof of the saying: Rwanda “the land of a thousand hills”. Check in to the lodge, dinner and overnight.

DAY 8: Enjoy A Boat Ride and Kibuye.

Have a delicious breakfast and enjoy a boat ride to different islands in Lake Kivu and then later visit the environmental museum and later head back to the hotel and enjoy the beach.

DAY 9: Transfer to Gisenyi-Congo-Nile Trail Excursion

Discover the historical Congo Nile Trail enroute to Gisenyi as you explore the beauty and unique sites of the trail which include: coffee and tea tours, the local livelihoods, fishing with the local fishermen on local boats.

DAY 10: Visit the Dancing Pots Project

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, proceed to Gisenyi and visit the dancing pot project. About 33,000 Batwa remain in Rwanda, known for their skills as potters, dancers and musicians. This encounter presents an ideal moment of interaction as you learn these skills.

DAY 11: Kayaking In Lake Kivu

After breakfast, enjoy kayaking on the beautiful Lake Kivu as you enjoy the beautiful sceneries that surround it, later visit the hot springs and head back to the lodge.

DAY 12: Buhanga Eco Park-Red Rocks

Wake up to an early morning breakfast, drive to Musanze and meet your park rangers for the day who will lead you to Buhanga Eco Park which is a sacred forest where Rwandese kings performed initiation ceremonies, walk through the park and see how and where these rituals took place.

DAY 13: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experiences

Wake up to an early morning breakfast with packed lunch and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the code of conduct before tracking the gorillas. We’ll then penetrate the thick forests in search for these gentle giant Gorillas in the mist which will take us about 2-6 hours depending on their movements within the forests.

You will meet the gorillas and you will be given 1hour with them which you can use for taking pictures and viewing them closely as they interact with each other. Later on head for the community walk as you visit the Banyarwanda locals as you enjoy performances from them and explore deep into their unique culture. Dinner and an overnight.

DAY 14: Golden Monkey Trekking

On an early breakfts, eet your park ranger guides who will lead you to trails of the rare and Albertine rift endemic golden monkeys with a visit to the twin lakes in the afternoon.

DAY 15: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and set off for Akagera national park which is about 2.5 hours depending on the stopovers along the way. Check-in on arrival and have lunch at the hotel/lodge later head out for an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema where you will be able to spot crocodiles and Hippos in water as well as buffaloes and Elephants by the water banks. Head back to the lodge.

DAY 16: Akagera Game Drive and Boat Trip

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and start your day with a thrilling game drive to bring you close to an array of wildlife like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and so many more including an array of bird species. Later head back for lunch and catch up with a rewarding boat ride on Lake Ihema bringing you up close to large numbers of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and beautiful bird species:

DAY 17: Morning Game Drive-Transfer to Kigali

Have an early breakfast to catch up with the early risers as they sunbath giving you a beautiful view of wildlife wondering around the park, exit the park and drive back to Kigali. Dinner and overnight

Depending on your flight schedule, you may be dropped off at the airport, or drive around the city craft shops to grab some souvenirs before departure.
